The Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Award for Outstanding Service
The Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Award for Outstanding Service, founded in 1994, is presented to nurses who have given exceptional service to patients through nursing practice in any aspect of primary health care.
It was an award in which the late Queen Mother took great personal interest and it is in honour of her memory that QNI patron, Her Majesty the Queen, agreed that the award could be made in perpetuity.
The selection criteria for the award are:
- The nominee shall have practiced nursing in the community for a minimum of 10 years
- The nominee shall have practised both the art and science of nursing to a standard of true excellence
- The nominee shall have given service to both patients and the profession over and above the normal call of duty having made a particularly distinguished contribution through nursing to the health of people in the community.
