Community Matrons
PCTs are invited to contribute to the QNI knowledge bank and share their experience of ‘what works'. The QNI believes that by sharing examples of best practice, Trusts may be able to enhance the potential of the role for nurses keen to take on a new challenge and avoid the difficulties experienced by those who have already introduced community matrons to their workforce.
The knowledge bank will offer ready made examples and advice to trusts who wish to learn from other's experience.

Has your PCT introduced Community Matrons? As we are collecting examples of how this initiative is being implemented - could you share yours? Email information to Anne Pearson
Rosemary Cook, director of the QNI said:
“All parties to the debate on community matrons would probably agree that what is important, is implementing this new role in the best possible way for patients and with the greatest professional benefits for nurses. Harnessing expertise and knowledge about the best ways to introduce community matrons to primary care services, will enable Trusts who are currently at the planning stage to learn which models have proven to be the most effective.”
