Eight High Impact Actions for Nursing and Midwifery - the 'Essential Collection'Community nurse at work

The eight High Impact Actions were selected from over 600 submissions by nurses during autumn 2009.

The Essential Collection of Eight High Impact Actions includes:
Skin care - preventing pressure ulcers
Preventing falls
Keeping nourished and avoiding patient malnutrition
Promoting normal healthy births
Helping people to have choice about where they die
Reducing sickness in the nursing workforce
Supporting patients when they are discharged from hospital
Preventing contagious diseases in hospital.

The High Impact Actions for Nursing and Midwifery is a joint initiative by the Department of Health, the Royal College of Nursing, the Royal College of Midwives, the Nursing and Midwifery Council and the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement, the QNI and other organisations.
