QNI Award Ceremonies 2011

The QNI holds two Award Ceremonies each year. In 2011, the first of these took place on Nurses Day, 12 May, and the second took place on 15 November. Please scroll down to read more about each event, and to find out how to order pictures.


SPRING - 12 May

The Professor Kieran Sweeney Award was presented by Mrs Barbara Sweeney to Angela Parle, Clinical Nurse Specialist in Palliative Care at Liverpool Community Health.

The Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Award for Oustanding Service was presented by Maureen Acland OBE to Maggie Bisset, Roz Irvine, Gill Lake and Marina Lupari. To view their Citations please click here.

The Burdett Trust for Nursing/QNI Fund for Innovation and Leadership was presented by Lady Henrietta St George to five nursing teams. To download a complete list please click here.

The Alzheimer's Society Excellence in Dementia Care Award was presented to Kerry Macdonald and Ian Davies-Abbott from Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board for their project, Supporting Relationships in Dementia.

Thirty-five Queen's Nurses were awarded the title.

Two new Fellows, Professor Martin Bradley, and Ann Rowe, were also inducted, by Rosalynde Lowe CBE, Chair of the QNI. To read their biographies please click here.

Ms Lowe also paid tribute to the late Maureen Acland OBE, Chair of the QNI from 1978 to 2003 and subsequently Vice-President.

Dame Christine Beasley, Chief Nursing Officer for England, was the guest of honour and addressed the 130 nurses and guests who atended.
