Nurses in Business
There have always been nurses who have left the NHS to become involved in healthcare businesses. Some run nursing homes or nursing agencies; some have set up companies or social enterprises that provide services, education or consultancy. They are a small percentage of the profession, but changes to the structure of the health service, and the increasing scope of professional practice, means that their numbers are growing.

Innovative & Creative Practice 2005 - 'Active Ageing in Care Homes’
Jon Ryland and Mikki Jarvis were recipients of the Innovative & Creative Practice award in 2004 for their project Taking Active Ageing into Care Homes. They have continued their commitment to improving care for the older person by recently buying a 26 bed residential care home in Gloucester: The Manor House.
Innovative & Creative Practice 2005 - Health of Men Weight management project
Andrew Harrison - Andrew continues in his men’s health role but has also set up a company with a colleague providing tailored workplace health programmes for Men and Boys - www.menshealthplus.co.uk .
