Cathy Richards QN

 

Cathy is a Nurse Partner working as an Advanced Practitioner and team leader in primary care. She has developed this post starting as treatment room nurse 15years ago. Cathy specialises in Diabetes management including insulin initiation. As a partner Cathy has gained an insight into many more aspects of Primary Care and is joint Clinical Governance lead for the practice. She a mentor for the Wiltshire PCT, sessional out-of-hours and walk-in centre Nurse Practitioner, a visiting lecturer for the University of the West of England and has presented at conferences.

 
 
 
Anna Gibbins QNAnna Gibbins QN

Anna is a Professional Development Lead Nurse who has 28 years experience in rural, town and inner city roles. She is a Practice Educator with specific interest in staff development, patient and public involvement, patient empowerment and independence for those with long term conditions. She also has an interest in nurse-led ulcer clinics in non-clinical environments. She works for Gloucestershire PCT and is happy to mentor others in the area.

 

 

 

 

 

 Simon Jones QNSimon Jones QN

Simon is a Deputy Service Manager with Bristol Community Learning Disability Teams (CLDTs), part of NHS Bristol. Bristol has four CLDTs, totalling nearly 90 staff including nurses, psychologists, physiotherapists, speeech and language, occupational and art therapists, as well as admin support. Simon is the deputy manager of this service, supporting all adults with a learning disability living in the Bristol area. They work in partnership with social services to provide a holistic service to clients. Simon is happy to mentor other applicants for the QN title.

 
 
 
 Vanessa Moir QNVanessa Moir QN

Vanessa is a Clinical Nurse Specialist (Learning Disability) employed by Devon Partnership NHS Trust. She provides specialist advice and support to others on how to support individuals who eperience high levels of distress, anxiety or anger. She is a qualified physical intervention instructor, providing training and advice within the Trust. she is also an RCN Health and Safety Rep and was awarded Health and Safety Rep of the Year in 2007. She is happy to mentor other applicants for the QN title.

 
 
 
Carol Stonham QNCarol Stonham QN

Carol is a prescribing nurse practitioner at Dr Marlow and Partners in Gloucestershire. She has been working in general practice since 1990 and leads a small nursing team. Her clinical role encompasses triage and treatment of minor illnesses, chronic disease management, women's health and some travel health. She is nurse lead for diabetes, but her main interest is in respiratory medicine. She has recently completed an MSc in Respiratory Medicine and also undertakes research in the field, and she is actively involved with to The Primary Care Respiratory Society UK (PCRS-UK) as a nurse committee member. She is happy to mentor other applicants for the QN title.

Angela is a Nurse Practitioner working at Springbank Surgery in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. She has been nursing for 21 years, predominantly in a Primary Care setting. She has recently managed the opening of the first new GP surgey in Gloucestershire for thirty years, of which she is the lead nurse practitioner. The surgery provides a full range of services and apart from one four-hour GP session each day, is nurse led. Angela is one of two independent nurse prescribers who, along with a healthcare assistant, will provide medical reviews for long term conditions, triage, health promotion, and liaise closely with the new community resource centre in which the surgery is based. It has been a challenge, particularly starting with a patient list of zero! She is happy to mentor applicants for the QN title.

 
 
 
Julie Tomlinson QNJulie Tomlinson QN

 

 

Julie is an Associate Specialist in Public Health employed by Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly PCT. She is the local lead on the National Children's Measurement Programme, childhood obesity, diabetes, renal disease and long term neurological conditions. She is currently working on a PhD in polycystic ovary disease and the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes, and the relationship between this and gestational diabetes. She has been a nurse for 21 years, mainly in general practice as a Practice Nurse and then a Nurse Practitioner. Her particular interests are Type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome. She will be able to mentor others, once she's completed her PhD!

Helen is a Practice Development lead nurse in case management working for Gloucestershire PCT. She is currently on a secondment in case management, leading case management within district nursing. Her background is in district nursing, but she is also a practice educator and she has an interest in learning and development. She is also a Professional Executive Committee nurse member and a learning representative for the Royal College of Nurses. Helen is able to mentor applicants for the QN title.

 
 
 
Heather Mitchell QN

Heather Mitchell QN

 

Heather is a Nursing Co-ordinator working for Kate's Home Nursing Hospice at Home Service. She is partly responsible for clinical aspects of the service, which has the primary aim of enabling patients to die in the comfort of their own home. They care for any patient who is suffering from a life-limiting disease at any stage of their disease progression. This is achieved by working closely with the primary care team of which the service is an integral part. She is able to mentor applicants for the QN title.
