Leaving a gift in your Will

Gifts in Wills or legacies play a vital role in enabling the QNI to improve the nursing care people receive in the home.

We are not part of the NHS, so we receive no regular government funding and rely on your generosity to continue.

How your gift can help

Whilst providing for you loved ones will of course take priority, we hope that once you have looked after them, you would consider leaving the QNI a gift in your Will. Below are just a few examples on what we have done with previous legacies:

• We set up a bursary for nurses which funds academic study or research to the benefit of patients

• We re-introduced the title of Queen’s Nurse – a title that is conferred to individual nurses who have shown a high level of commitment to the care of their patients and to continual professional development

• We provided larger grants under our Fund for Innovation Programme

Why should you make a Will?

Many people are understandably put off from making a Will. However, there are a few points that need to be considered:

• If you don’t make a Will, the law will decide who gets what depending on your personal circumstances.

• Making a Will is the only guaranteed way to ensure that your money and possessions go to the people and causes that you care about the most

• You do not need to be rich to make a Will or to leave a legacy

• Making a Will is not expensive. You can expect drawing up a Will to cost from £50.
