Leaving a gift in your Will
Donations in the form of gifts
in Wills play a vital role in enabling us to meet the needs of
community nurses.
In 2006, a
generous gift from former District Nurse Miss Margaret Heyes
enabled us to re-introduce the title Queen’s Nurse. The title is
awarded to individual nurses who have demonstrated a high level
of commitment to patient care and encourages continuous
improvement in practice.
Another valued gift from Mr John Hobday has enabled us to set up
the Hobday Bursary, which will fund academic study or research
undertaken by community nurses for the benefit of patients
Your gift to the QNI could:
improve clinical practice by
sponsoring a research or innovation award in a particular field of
community nursing.
help spread examples of
specialist knowledge and of best nursing practice, benefiting even
more patients and nurses through improved care & services.
provide former and current
community nurses with much needed support in times of financial
hardship and distress.
Types of gifts you can make in your Will
A Residuary Legacy – the whole
or a percentage of your estate after your debts and other legacies
have been paid.
A Pecuniary Legacy – a fixed
sum of money.
A Specific Legacy – a specific item of value, for example, some
shares or jewellery stipulated in your Will.
If you wish to amend your Will to include the QNI you can do so
using the
Codicil form. Whether you are amending your Will
or drawing one up for the first time the QNI recommends you use
the services of a solicitor.
The separate
legacy pledge form
is in no way
legally binding and you are entirely free to change your mind at
any time, however it does allow us to say thank you.
If you would like further information or would like to discuss
leaving a gift in your Will to the Queen’s Nursing Institute,
please contact Joanna Sagnella on 020 7549 1404 or email her at
joanna.sagnella@qni.org.uk.
