Annette was a QNI Trustee from 1993-2010 and became a Fellow in 1999.

She qualified as a nurse in Glasgow and Aberdeen and was a District Nurse for over 20 years. In 1995, she moved to the Department of Health to become the nurse advisor for older people. During this time (1995-2001) she worked closely with colleagues from the Social Services Inspectorate on their national inspection programme of local authority Social Service Departments, providing advice on the commissioning and delivery of services for older people.

She later transferred to the NHS Trent Regional Office, to become deputy regional nurse director, until the office closed in 2003. Since then, she has worked as an independent consultant in the UK and Portugal. She has also recently completed six years as a board member of the Alzheimer’s Society. In her spare time she is a keen historian and genealogist and recently completed a Masters of Arts in nineteenth century social history. She lives with her husband in Lincoln, where she is involved in a number of community organisations and local Primary Care initiatives.
